Comedian Dies
“Comedian Dies” is a video-collaboration between artist George Pfau, and comedian Caitlin Gill. Inspired by zombies, slapstick, and the vulnerability that a stand-up comic experiences, Pfau and Gill crafted this scenario with the help of comic/sound artist Drennon Davis. The video places emphasis on the blurry / tense threshold between the performer and the audience, and between the performer’s body and the bodies of those who have come before. One point of inspiration comes from the fork and potato dance in Charlie Chaplin’s film “The Kid” which in this video is redone using skeleton legs. The video was shot at the San Francisco Punchline Comedy Club by Kristina Willemse and Hannah Ireland. Sound recorded and produced by Drennon Davis, Brett Forest and Gerry Berkowitz.
